Applications of Mass Spectrometry in Oligonucleotide Analysis

Oligonucleotide-based novel therapeutics have shown promise and attracted increasing interest in the past decade. Analytical development and manufacturing of oligonucleotides such as miRNA, siRNA, gRNA, mRNA, etc. are more important than ever before for drug candidate development, IND, and BLA. Here, I will go through a few mass spectrometry applications in oligonucleotide analysis to demonstrate the remarkable progress over the past few years. I will discuss how mass spectrometry contributes to release testing, characterization, stability study, process development, PKPD, and discovery.

Presenter: Bo Yan (Senior Scientist II, Analytical Development, Beam Therapeutics)

Dr. Bo Yan currently leads the Mass Spectrometry group in the Analytical Development team at Beam Therapeutics. He develops characterization methods and bioanalytical assays for a broad range of molecules, such as gRNA, mRNA, protein, LNP, and AAV. Prior to joining Beam, he worked on characterization of biologics; small molecule separation and structural elucidation; nanoparticle characterization and biodistribution; and biomarker discovery. He has authored over 40 peer reviewed papers.

MS Data Analysis Strategies for Oligos. Measuring Targets by Ions, Chemical Formula, and Average Mass

ABSTRACT...

Presenter: Peter Rye (Pre-Sales Application Engineer, Agilent Technologies, Inc.)

Peter is a pre-sales Application Engineer with Agilent Technologies. He has been with Agilent for 10 years developing LC, RapidFire, and mass spec methods on a wide range of molecules. Prior to Agilent, Peter worked in analytical development groups for BioTove and BIOCIUS, the original companies that developed the RapidFire high-throughput MS platform. In his spare time, you can find Peter relaxing with his family, trying to fix the many problems with his home, or riding his bike around the north shore of Massachusetts.
