Why Good Chromatography Matters for LCMS

RECORD | Already taken place Th, 6.5.2021
This introduction webinar starts at the beginning by illustrating the optimal configuration of LC modules and LC capillary tubing to ensure lowest peak broadening to take place prior to MS detection.

One of the most overlooked part of doing high quality LCMS is the impact setting up the LC for optimal separation of analytes, low dead-volume, and low chemical background has on system performance.

Proper cleaning of laboratory glassware and mobile phase hygiene are critical to avoid problems with contamination in the LC system. The impact of using MS friendly mobile phase solvents, buffers, and ultra-high purity solvents is discussed with an emphasis on how to identify and trouble shoot potential sources of impurities and contaminants.

The Tips and Tricks section reviews the best practices for:
  1. Purging and conditioning LC modules;
  2. How to prepare the LC for “Sticky” compounds; and
  3. How to pick the right column for your application.

A lengthy interactive live question and answer period follows the webinar, so come prepared with questions in which our application and field engineers can help solve your potential problems.

Presenter: David Weil, PhD (Senior Applications Scientist, Agilent Technologies, Inc.)

David Weil is a senior applications scientist in Agilent located in Wood Dale with over 30 years of experience using mass spectrometry. Prior to joining Agilent in 2004, he worked for 14 years at 3M in the Corporate Research Analytical Laboratories (St.Paul, MN) and 4 years at Nicolet/Extrel doing ultra-high resolution mass spectrometry. David received his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Minnesota and Post Doc with Dr Charles Wilkins at University of California-Riverside developing laser desorption FTMS and ion-molecule reactions. David has three grown sons and live with his wife Naomi just blocks from Wrigley Field and Lake Michigan.
