LCMS the Basics: Matching the Performance of the LCMS to Analytical Solutions

RECORD | Already taken place Th, 20.5.2021
In this webinar we start reviewing the basics of LCMS single quadruple mass spectrometry, how the system functions and provided molecular weight information not available just using LC/UV detection.

Agilent Technologies: Eliminate the Fear of Mass Spec
Agilent Technologies: Eliminate the Fear of Mass Spec

One of the biggest challenges someone new to LCMS is understanding the various strengths and weakness of the various LCMS Systems and then choose the best system for to solve a particular analytical problem.

Next, we discuss the power of LC/TQ for the analysis of targeted compounds, reviewing the various modes of operation and discussing the analytical sensitivity of each system. For suspect and unknown analysis, we talk about the power of high mass resolving power to determine elemental composition information and structural information from MS and MSMS spectral data. Follow-up webinars on LC/TQ and LC/QTOF go into more details on the use of these systems.

An interactive live question and answer period will follow the webinar, so come prepared with questions in which our application and field engineers can help solve your potential problems.

Presenter: David Weil, PhD (Senior Applications Scientist, Agilent Technologies, Inc.)

David Weil is a senior applications scientist in Agilent located in Wood Dale with over 30 years of experience using mass spectrometry. Prior to joining Agilent in 2004, he worked for 14 years at 3M in the Corporate Research Analytical Laboratories (St.Paul, MN) and 4 years at Nicolet/Extrel doing ultra-high resolution mass spectrometry. David received his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Minnesota and Post Doc with Dr Charles Wilkins at University of California-Riverside developing laser desorption FTMS and ion-molecule reactions. David has three grown sons and live with his wife Naomi just blocks from Wrigley Field and Lake Michigan.
