Agilent Technologies: Eliminate the Fear of Mass Spec
Agilent Technologies: Eliminate the Fear of Mass Spec

Frustrated with the identification of unknown or suspect screening of compounds using just a single quadrupole mass spectrometer? Learn how to get more confident compound identifications by using high resolution Quadrupole Time-of-flight (Q/TOF) mass spectrometry.

The first of the two part in-depth webinar will focus on the proper setup of the QTOF and LC system, a review on how to properly make up fresh tuning solution, and an in-depth explanation of how to properly tune and calibrate the QTOF system. The tuning will cover when to do a system tune, when to transmission tunes, and also several sections that discuss the proper way to small molecule tuning (Stable vs. Fragile Ions).

The first webinar concludes with a special section discussing the proper way to modify tune conditions and calibration for higher mass applications. The Webinar will conclude with time for Questions and Answers focused on setting up the QTOF and specifically tuning and calibration.

Presenter: David Weil, PhD (Senior Applications Scientist, Agilent Technologies, Inc.)

David Weil is a senior applications scientist in Agilent located in Wood Dale with over 30 years of experience using mass spectrometry. Prior to joining Agilent in 2004, he worked for 14 years at 3M in the Corporate Research Analytical Laboratories (St.Paul, MN) and 4 years at Nicolet/Extrel doing ultra-high resolution mass spectrometry. David received his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Minnesota and Post Doc with Dr Charles Wilkins at University of California-Riverside developing laser desorption FTMS and ion-molecule reactions. David has three grown sons and live with his wife Naomi just blocks from Wrigley Field and Lake Michigan.
