HEAD OF ENGINEERING - GLASGOW
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Engineering at Peak HQ, Inchinnan. Reporting to the COO, you will be responsible for the successful Research, Design and Development of new products and technologies.
Owning the Product and Technology Development Process (PDP) you will ensure all stakeholders are engaged and contributing towards the success of new products and technologies.
Additionally, you will be responsible for
Managing team leads (9) including Research and Development, Design and Development, Test and Validation, Product Compliance and New Product Integration.
Actively monitoring and driving the Product and Technology Roadmap through market awareness of applications and complementary market sectors.
Financial and business accountability by ensuring all projects are on time and in budget.
Making technical decisions and setting technical direction.
Chairing and reviewing business project priority meetings with the COO and reporting updates to the Executive Board as required.
Accountability for the Product Change Process ensuring changes are implemented with minimal disruption to the business and its remains fit for purpose.
Protecting business continuity through multi source supply whilst retaining key compliance.
Driving a culture of Continuous Improvement and Engineering Excellence especially with considering of IoT opportunities for reliability and faster innovation.
Developing and mentoring the teams by sharing knowledge and best practice, modern ways of working.
You must have a proven track record in a similar role of leading and driving teams in a fast-paced Engineering environment (in a £100M+ company), with knowledge of engineering best practices including Design for Manufacture and Design for Assembly and opportunities for engineering patents. Candidates should also have a degree in a relevant engineering discipline or sufficient experience.
You will have an understanding of the following
Mechanical, pneumatical and electrical engineering principles.
Validation Testing and End of Life Product Management.
Structuring Research and Development projects and potential patents.
Future proofing products with product data collection and consideration of sustainability credentials.
Championing Continuous Improvement activities on product or process.
Awareness of EN 61010, UL and ISTA certifications.
