Postdoctoral researcher in gene expression

Inactive
BIOCEV

The main activity of the Institute of Biotechnology of the CAS is basic molecular biological research with an emphasis on processes that have an impact on the health of the population. The research and service groups of the Institute are involved in pan-European research infrastructures, which not only increases the level of expertise and efficiency, but also strengthens their importance and relevance within the European Research Area. These include in particular CIISB (Czech Infrastructure for Integrative Structural Biology) and ELIXIR-CZ (Czech National Infrastructure for Biological Data).

The Institute of Biotechnology is also one of the partners involved in the BIOCEV Centre project, which is a cutting-edge comprehensive platform for the development of modern biotechnology and biomedicine. The five research programmes of the BIOCEV Centre involve top scientists from the fields of molecular and cell biology, phenogenomics, structural biology, tissue engineering and biomedicine. In conjunction with state-of-the-art instrumentation, BIOCEV is a centre of excellence for basic research, actively linked to teaching and training of MSc and PhD students, and with an emphasis on collaboration with biotechnology companies through contract research.

Institute of Biotechnology of the Czech Academy of Sciences announces an open competition in accordance with the Act No. 283/1992 Coll. on the Czech Academy of Sciences, and the Statutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences for a position:

Job description:

You will study the gene expression during regeneration and cancer progression using animal models, single cell & spatial transcriptomics, and functional experiments. You will be in charge of your research project but will also need to function as a part of a team. You will contribute to writing of manuscripts, reports and proposals and will present the project results at (inter-)national meetings.

Requirements:

  • PhD in molecular/cell biology or related areas
  • Strong interest and hands-on experience in basic research
  • Experience in (single cell)-omics technologies, experimental work including animal models and data analysis will be considered as an advantage
  • Excellent communication skills and teamwork, and ability to plan and work independently
