We observed that the transcription start site can vary on the basis of the compatibility of the specific template and dinucleoside polyphosphate. Cryo-electron microscopy structures of transcription initiation complexes with dinucleoside polyphosphates revealed that both nucleobase moieties can pair with the DNA template. The first encoded nucleotide pairs in a canonical Watson–Crick manner, whereas the second nucleobase pairs noncanonically in a reverse Watson–Crick manner. <p><strong>As an excellent alternative to GC and HPLC, high-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC) is the method of choice for the analysis of complex and variable samples. HPTLC has proven its value as a reliable quantitative analysis technique for the quality assurance of herbal medicines and dietary supplements, food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and many other industrial products.</strong></p>
<p>The HPTLC process consists of four major steps: application, development, derivatization, and detection. Historically, manual intervention was required between each step of the HPTLC process. In this webinar, Dr. Melanie Broszat, Scientific Business Development Manager at CAMAG, will introduce the HPTLC PRO, a fully automated HPTLC sample analysis and evaluation system launched in 2019. Dr. Broszat will present the key applications of the system for routine quality control across multiple disciplines and provide information on the freely available sources of related methods. Current and future trends in HPTLC will also be discussed, as well as the role CAMAG plays in this rapidly accelerating field.</p>

She did her Ph.D. in molecular biology and environmental microbiology at the Albert-Ludwigs-University in Freiburg, Germany. From 2010/03-2010/06, she worked as a Laboratory Engineer in the research department of University of Applied Sciences, Offenburg, Germany. During 2009/09-2010/02, she worked in the QA of a food company and between 2008/08-2009/08, as a Laboratory Engineer for the development of HPTLC methods in the food and environmental application fields. Meanwhile, between 2004/10-2008/08 she studied Process Engineering at the University of Applied Sciences, Offenburg, Germany.</p>
