This approach allows extended separation time and higher resolution in the second dimension, making it particularly suitable for targeted investigations of known critical compounds. A triple quad does more than just MRM. In this webinar the objective is to explore the different scan functions of a triple quad and how they can be used to solve complex problems. We will give examples of using the precursor ion and neutral loss scanning for lipid analysis. We will also talk about the unique mixed mode acquisition capability of the Agilent Ultivo Triple Quadrupole mass spectrometer, which allows for the sequential use of different acquisition modes in a single injection. The Different Scan modes of a Triple Quad beyond Just MRMs

Interactions of analytes with metal surfaces in high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) instruments and columns have been reported to cause deleterious effects ranging from peak tailing to a complete loss of the analyte signal. These effects are due to the adsorption of certain analytes on the metal oxide layer on the surface of the metal components.
We have developed a novel surface modification technology and applied it to the metal components in ultra HPLC (UHPLC) instruments and columns to mitigate these interactions. A hybrid organic−inorganic surface, based on an ethylene-bridged siloxane chemistry, was developed for use with reversed-phase and hydrophilic interaction chromatography. We have characterized the performance of UHPLC instruments and columns that incorporate this surface technology and compared the results with those obtained using their conventional counterparts. 
We demonstrate improved performance when using the hybrid surface technology for separations of various small molecules as well as nucleotides, phosphopeptides, and oligonucleotides. The hybrid surface technology was found to result in higher and more consistent analyte peak areas and improved peak shape, particularly when using low analyte mass loads and acidic mobile phases. Reduced abundances of iron adducts in the mass spectrum of a peptide were also observed when using UHPLC systems and columns that incorporate hybrid surface technology. These results suggest that this technology will be particularly beneficial in UHPLC/mass spectrometry investigations of metal-sensitive analytes.

David will be your host for this event. He completed his PhD in Biochemistry at Nottingham Trent University, focused on the effects of toxins on glioma cells. After this he joined Lonza to work as a research and development scientist using different analytical techniques to characterize antibodies and proteins. Later he worked for Thermo Fisher Scientific as applications specialist and Biopharma Expert, and as business development manager in two CDMOs, focusing on antibodies and viral vector projects. David joined Waters in June 2022 as principal biopharma market development manager.

Emma completed her PhD in Analytical Chemistry at Loughborough University, focused on the development of ion mobility mass spectrometry for complex mixtures.
After her post doctoral research at University of Leicester and having worked as analytical scientist at Hall Analytical, using a variety of analytical techniques, Emma joined Waters in June 2019 as a senior applications chemist in the Demo lab in Wilmslow. In 2021 she was promoted to European applications lab manager.

Chris is currently working as a Principal Domain Specialist (Applications science) at Waters, having been with the company for 5 years. He works with the Waters informatics teams to help deliver the waters_connect software applications. His focus has been on the CONFIRM Sequence application. His background is in Bioprocessing, having worked at FUJIFILM Diasynth Biotechnologies for 3 years as a principal scientist in Mammalian cell culture, following completion of a PhD in mammalian cell line engineering at the University of Aberdeen in 2016.

Ali completed his Ph.D. in biochemistry and structural biology at the Mediterranean University (CNRS, Marseille, France), where he contributed to the R&amp;D of the anti-obesity drug, Xenical®, developed by Roche Ltd. Then, he spent about 20 years of academic research (France, UK, Kuwait) in biochemistry, liquid chromatography, mass-spectrometry, and proteomics, focusing on detecting and characterizing biomarkers related to human diseases (cancer, diabetes, obesity). Ali joined Waters in October 2021 as a BioPharma and New Modalities Specialist in Chemistry for Southern Europe.

<h5>The Problem</h5>Buffer exchange is a critical step to developing optimal vectors and payloads. Compared to biologics, development of delivery vectors like lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) and adeno-associated viruses (AAVs) is a newer research area with different challenges and opportunities to address. LNPs require fast buffer exchange to remove any organic phase without disrupting encapsulation efficiency or causing size change. AAVs usually need concentration after manufacturing in addition to buffer exchange at a high recovery. Both vectors can vary wildly in their manufacturing conditions or serotype, meaning a single solution may not be the best fit.<h5>The Solution</h5>Unagi is a benchtop automated buffer exchange and concentration instrument designed to handle a wide range of biologics and gene therapy biomolecules.
