His research interests include clinical mass spectrometry; method development and evaluation for therapeutic drug monitoring, clinical toxicology, and point-of-care testing; and development/validation of biomarker use in drug management.</p>

<p><strong>Plasma is a rich source of protein biomarkers to reveal disease biology. However, identifying biomarkers in plasma proteomics has challenges due to the wide range of protein concentrations. The Orbitrap Astral mass spectrometer delivers a new set of performance standards for plasma proteomics, with deep proteome coverage, fast throughput, and accurate and precise quantitation. Use of a newly developed extracellular vesicle enrichment protocol and DIA enables new depths of plasma proteome coverage, quantifying more than 5000 proteins in 60 minutes.</strong></p>
<p>While mass spectrometry is often envisioned as an unbiased discovery platform for protein quantitation, many use the technology for directed monitoring of relevant, predefined targets. Targeted methods based on parallel reaction monitoring (PRM) can be superior in terms of precision, accuracy, reproducibility, dynamic range, and specificity.</p>
<p>This webcast will describe the development of PRM assays and demonstrate the ability to measure &gt;700 proteins using &gt;1500 peptides in plasma on a novel hybrid nominal mass resolution tandem mass spectrometer, as well as demonstrate the statistical power in finding quantitative differences in a pilot Alzheimer’s disease cohort compared with DIA.</p>

<p><strong>Takeda has spent the last years significantly building up its high-throughput (HTE) and automation capabilities around the Unchained Labs’ family of tools. Nevertheless, while we are investing in a variety of different devices and approaches, our ultimate vision is to design and implement self-driving labs (SDLs) to carry out self-optimizing workflows. Process development and optimization frequently involves exploring wide parameter spaces, making these iterative algorithm-guided SDLs ideal for such optimizations.</strong></p><p>As such, we herein present our vision for fully self-optimizing HTE workflows, with the ultimate goal of creating SDLs with workflows optimized for a variety of general applications needed in synthetic molecule drug development.
