<p><strong>Listeria monocytogenes, a foodborne pathogen, poses a particular risk to vulnerable populations such as infants, the elderly, immunocompromised individuals, and pregnant women. Timely and accurate identification helps to prevent outbreaks of listeriosis and is essential for ensuring food safety and protection of public health.</strong></p>
<p>In this webinar, Dr. Helene Oberreuter, food microbiologist and senior government councilor, will highlight a validated workflow for the differentiation of Listeria monocytogenes serogroups by FT-IR spectroscopy. The workflow consists of species identification by MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry (MALDI Biotyper®) followed by serogroup differentiation with the IR Biotyper® using a classifier which is based on an artificial neural network.</p>

<p><strong>Per- and poly-fluorinated substances (PFAS) are synthetic organic compounds widely used in products and processes because of their hydrophobic and non-stick properties. High Throughput Single-Cell Metabolomics

We present HT-SpaceM, a high-throughput method showcasing robust reproducibility in identifying metabolites in 10 cell lines.

<p><strong>Protein ubiquitination is a versatile post-translational modification that orchestrates many cellular pathways. Ubiquitin ligases are key specificity factors in this system. The HECT-type ubiquitin ligase HACE1 controls membrane dynamics and redox homeostasis by mechanisms that are still poorly understood at a structural level.</strong></p>
<p>We determined the cryo-EM structures of HACE1 alone and in complex with its physiological substrate, RAC1. Together with biophysical analyses including HDX-MS and mass photometry, our studies reveal how HACE1 is regulated and how it recognizes its substrate with specificity. I am going to provide an overview of this work with a specific focus on the use of mass photometry.</p>

<p><strong>Whether the goal is to obtain enough intermediate for the next step in a synthetic scheme or to polish a final product, preparative liquid chromatography is one of the primary techniques for isolation compounds from complex mixtures.  Despite this fact, purification often seems difficult with many opportunities for undesirable outcomes, such as poor compound purity, low yield, or target loss. As head of CNC&#39;s Mass Spectrometry node and Associate Editor for Frontiers, he&#39;s contributed significantly to neuroscience and psychiatry. Bruno&#39;s research focuses on cell biology mechanisms, translational biomarker research, and MS-based approaches for studying protein oxidation. He played a pivotal role in establishing the hospital biobank and teaches at the Portuguese Catholic University.</p>
