<p><strong>Per- and poly-fluorinated substances (PFAS) are synthetic organic compounds widely used in products and processes because of their hydrophobic and non-stick properties. Known as ‘forever chemicals’ due to their persistence in the environment, PFAS are identified as a class of environmental contaminants of high concern. Increasingly, environmental and regulatory agencies are taking action to address PFAS contamination, setting sub-parts-per-billion (ppb) tolerance thresholds to limit exposure and protect public health.</strong></p>
